If you've ever looked for a job, you know the drill. You have a spreadsheet for applications, a Notion page for notes, a folder of resume versions on your desktop, and maybe a thousand tabs open for research.
It's fragmented. It's messy. And worse, it's not private.
Most "job trackers" are just glorified spreadsheets that often sell your data to recruiters. I wanted something different. I wanted a Command Center.
Interview OS is a privacy-first, self-hosted workspace designed for all job seekers to manage the entire lifecycle of their job search. Whether you're a software engineer, designer, marketer, or recent graduate — Interview OS adapts to your workflow.
It's not just a tracker; it's an interview oversight system for your career.
Try it now: interviewos.xyz
Pro Tip for Engineers: Interview OS includes specialized features like Markdown support for code snippets and a community question bank for technical interview prep.
The market is flooded with ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) for companies, but there are very few professional tools designed specifically for candidates.
I built Interview OS with three core philosophies:
Interview OS is broken down into four interconnected modules that streamline your workflow:
At the heart of Interview OS is the Kanban Board. It visualizes your applications across stages: Applied, Screening, Interview, Offer, and Rejected.
Log every interview round with detailed notes:
Stop searching your file system for that one specific cover letter. The Asset Manager centralizes:
This is the killer feature. Interview OS includes a built-in email composer that connects to your own SMTP (like Gmail) for a fully integrated experience.
How it works:
Connect Your SMTP: In Settings, add your Gmail/Outlook credentials. Use App Passwords for Gmail.
Create Email Templates: Save your best follow-up emails, thank-you notes, and cold outreach as "Email Format" assets.
Use Smart Placeholders: When writing templates, use placeholders like:
{{company_name}} — Auto-fills with the company name{{position}} — Auto-fills with the job title{{your_name}} — Your name{{hiring_manager}} — Recruiter/manager name{{date}} — Current dateSend with One Click: When composing an email from an application, select your saved template. Click "Use Template" and the message body auto-fills with your content. The placeholders get replaced automatically!
Example Template:
Dear {{hiring_manager}},
Thank you for considering me for the {{position}} role at {{company_name}}.
I enjoyed learning about the team's work and am excited about the opportunity to contribute. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Best regards,
{{your_name}}
